Holding at the arch: The mechanism of this position is lost with a mid-foot grip. It causes the toes to move down (wrap over the hands) and the heel to move up. Without exception you must hold at the ball of the flexed foot for Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Chin drops: A drop of the chin usually accompanies a drop of the eyes. Always keep the chin parallel to the floor for Parts 1, 2 and 3.

Stiff arms: The arms and shoulders stiffen up causing the weight of the leg to push down into the hands. Relax the arms and only use the clasped fingers to pull back against the flexed foot. Support your foot, don’t hold it up.
